Bible Verses

These are the Bible verses that we will memorize and keep in our hearts this year.  They are separated by academic quarter, at the end of which, each student will recite the entire passage.
 
 

FOURTH GRADE – 1st QUARTER

 

 PSALM

 

139:1-2      O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.

 

139:3         You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

 

139:4-5      Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.

 

139:6-7      Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

 

139:8-9      If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there; If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,

 

139:10-11  even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

FOURTH GRADE – 2nd QUARTER

 

PSALM

 

139:12       Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

 

139:13-14 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

 

139:15       My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

 

 139:16      your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

 

139:17       How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

 

139:18       Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

 

139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

  

(You will also be expected to sing or recite the books of the Old Testament by the end of the quarter.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

FOURTH GRADE – 3rd QUARTER

 

ROMANS

 

12:14-15   Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

12:16         Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

12:17         Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.

12:18         If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

12:19         Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

12:20                   On the contrary:
                   "If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
                   if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
                   In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

12:21                   Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

FOURTH GRADE – 4 th QUARTER

 

PHILIPPIANS

 

4:4-5          Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

 

4:6              Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

 

4:7              And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

 

4:8              Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble,

whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,

whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.

 

4:9              Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

 

4:12b         I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

 

4:13            I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
